Abstract

The city is one of the most important symbolic places where novelist Wasini Al-Araj worked. In view of its toxic connotations and symbolic dimensions, to illustrate the reality of a civilian human being in all its contradictions, a distinct narrative constituting a realistic experience. in which characters and events move along a vibrant and active space and time, The East Mirage novel showed us an attempt to capture his silence in public cultural and social discourse.

Within this historical and geographical interaction, the study aimed to investigate the construction of a formality, which is widely reported in the novel: imprisonment, being an orphan of times that have a close relationship between the chain of events, and urban space engineering, trying to answer some questions:

-              Has the city become the scene of the events that took over the place and turned it into a terrible large prison?

-              Why has the prison orphaned so much in the mirage of the East, with synonyms such as rupture, suffering and oppression?

-              Was prison always a way to restore a normal life system? Or was it a way of silencing opponents?
